The 'Skull & Thorn' men's necklace is an original design from Brighton based, British designer, Chris Hawkins. The inspiration received from nature and the predators within it have led to such pieces as the 'Skull & Thorn' being created. It is the choice of quality materials and technical ability that have created such a phenomena around the men' jewellery from Hawkins.
The chain of the men's necklace has been constructed from titanium. Infamously renowned for being used within designer jewellery, titanium is a durable, lightweight and corrosion resistant metal which can withstand daily wear and lifestyle. The cable chain sits at 50cm and is made up of small, 5mm long, oval links. The chain fastens securely using a medium sized lobster clasp.
Hanging from the chain are 2 different pendant. Both are constructed from 925 solid silver. The first pendant has been cast and designed in the shape of the top section of an animals skull and measures 2.5cm long and 1.3cm wide. The second pendant has been designed as 2 thorns split apart and sit at 2.5cm long and 3cm wide.
The recesses and design of both silver pendants have been outlined and enhanced with the use of darkening, caused by an oxidisation technique. This finish allows the silver to coordinate and cohere with the dark silver tone of which the titanium is finished.
